The numbers continue to rise and have been fueled by actions taken which allow workers who previously weren’t eligible for benefits, to file. Independent contractors being a significant portion of those.
The good news – and we try and find the good news in all of this chaos – is that we, like others, do expect these numbers to fall fast. As the business of doing business gets rolling, lockdowns, closures and other shelter-in-place orders are lifted, we should see the recovery start. This means furloughed and temporarily laid-off employees can return to work.
We are starting to see signs of hope from Europe and Asia, who are statistically past their peaks of infection, return to what could be normalcy.
