While most of the news focuses on a pandemic that continues to spiral out of control – posting record-breaking numbers none of us want – unemployment claims are at their lowest points since March. Continuing claims this week dropped steeply to 5.5 million claims. First-time claims for unemployment benefits totaled 712,000 last week, compared with 787,000 a week earlier. The job market is adapting and showing signs of recovering but with so many variables and winter setting in on much of the country, we’re still in unpredictable territory for the foreseeable future.
